In case Atlanta's ice storm kept you out of your running shoes two weeks ago, just know you have no excuse. January 16th marked the 13th running of the McMurdo Marathon in McMurdo Station, Antarctica. Temperatures reached 28 degrees, and it was quite sunny, as the field of 17 lined up for friendly competition.
We were iced-in with just 2 inches here in Atlanta. Antarctica is covered by an ice shelf an average of 1 mile thick (up to 4 miles thick in areas).
See you Monday!
